Feels like forever, doesn’t it…? We missed you too.

Publisher’s Weekly Comics Week broke the news about our SHOOTING WAR book deal this past Saturday while I was at Comic-Con. We’re sandwiched in between deal news for Dan Clowes and Vertigo, which feels brilliant:
“There’s also been fast and furious wheeling and dealing connecting the Web and the printed page. SHOOTING WAR, the acclaimed Web comic by Anthony Lappé and Dan Goldman, has found a print home at Warner Books, where it will be published as a hardcover graphic novel. Currently running on the Smith magazine Web site, the near-future tale follows the caustic experiences of a video blogger who gains fame after live blogging a terrorist bombing. The story will be much expanded for the print version, with the Web comic making up only about a third of the final book.Warner senior editor Jaime Levine acquired the book, and it’s her first graphic novel. She says the politically subversive tale will be aimed at the same audience as the publisher’s huge bestseller America: The Book. Warner Books has also acquired two other graphic novels, one by members of the WuTang Clan and another by tattoo artist Mister Cartoon.”
SHOOTING WAR will be published in Fall 2007.
This Wednesday, July 19th, my collaborator on SHOOTING WAR Anthony Lappé is appearing on NPR affiliate WNYC’s Leonard Lopate Show, where they will be discussing “dystopian literature.”
The Leonard Lopate Show airs weekdays in NYC at 12PM on 93.9 FM and AM 820 and Tuesdays through Saturdays at 3AM on AM 820.
For the rest of the world, you can subscribe to the podcast and listen to it any time you damn well please.
This Monday night (7/17), I’ll be one of seven artists taking part in A Midsummer Night’s Scene, a little art+music happening in downtown NYC. I’ll have 5 art pieces on display of varying sizes. The space is a funky little pizzeria called L’Asso, so there will be free pizza and beer. Live music supplied by the *legendary* Cedric IM Brooks with vocal stylistics by our own JahFurry.
The lovely Chris Arrant brings the golden questions in this Newsarama “Up & Coming” feature on yours truly. I let some secrets slip in here if you’re paying attention. Click the pic:
