UGO.com Interviews “The New Hotness in Comics”

Witness me in fine form, swirling my cup of tea with my pinkie extended and twirling my mustachio like a villain:

UGO: “…[w]hat are your thoughts on the rise of web comics over the last few years?”

DAN: “…I blame two things: blogging and Diamond. Diamond’s recent policy changes shut my own self-publishing imprint FWDbooks’ doors by not fulfilling our orders and ultimately not listing us in favor of hero-genre work. That, coupled with blogging software that allows anyone to do any type of comic that you can imagine, suddenly leveled the playing field. There are more people reading comics online than are buying 98% of all printed comics now, and it’s growing everyday, as well as TOTAL CREATIVE FREEDOM… and I frankly think Diamond deserves a backhanded congrats for helping everyone along with it.”

SHOOTING WAR Gets Simultaneous UK Release

I’m very happy to announce that Weidenfeld & Nicolson will be publishing SHOOTING WAR in hardcover in the UK simultaneously with the American printing from Warner Books. Not only that, my UK friends, but W&N will be flying Anthony and I out to do a promotional tour as well.

And a special shout-out goes to Joe Gordon at Forbidden Planet International for his roaring and constant enthusiasm: the beating of your drum alerted alot of the Europe comix community very early on to what we were doing, Joe… and for that you have my eternal gratitude.
