UGO: “…[w]hat are your thoughts on the rise of web comics over the last few years?”DAN: “…I blame two things: blogging and Diamond. Diamond’s recent policy changes shut my own self-publishing imprint FWDbooks’ doors by not fulfilling our orders and ultimately not listing us in favor of hero-genre work. That, coupled with blogging software that allows anyone to do any type of comic that you can imagine, suddenly leveled the playing field. There are more people reading comics online than are buying 98% of all printed comics now, and it’s growing everyday, as well as TOTAL CREATIVE FREEDOM… and I frankly think Diamond deserves a backhanded congrats for helping everyone along with it.”
