At this year’s Comica Festival at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts, SHOOTING WAR will be one-half of a talk entitled “Iraq: The Graphic War, Today and in 2011″ on November 6th, 2007; Anthony and I will give a multimedia presentation about creating the media landscape of our graphic novel. The festival is curated by the wonderful Paul Gravett and I heartily encourage every living soul in the greater London area to attend.

I’ve been selected by the too-cool-for-shul HEEB Magazine to be part of their annual HEEB 100, “a roundup of 100 people you need to know about… bloggers and newspaper publishers, comic artists (including fellow comickers Rutu Modan, Lauren Weinstein and Vanessa Davis) and novelists, chefs and fashion designers, and while they’ve already got stellar resumes, we believe that the best is yet to come from each of them.” It’s a real honor too; H100 is quite a list and well worth your time checking out.

For the last 6 weeks, I’ve been communicating with Antonio Gonella, designer of the Turntablet, a third-party aluminum rack for the Wacom Cintiq 21UX that mounts it directly onto your drafting table to allow a full 360º range of motion. The thing is, I’d just scored a beautiful Trident table on Craigslist and was hesitant to bore a 15-17.25″ hole through the center of its surface in case I want to use to table for good old-fashioned analog art. I emailed Antonio my concerns and he suggested an altered installation, of which I am apparently the first. Armed with a 2″ hole saw bit and the included bolts and drill bit, I totally sexed up my workspace in approx. 30 minutes. Click pic for slideshow.

Many thanks, Antonio; this install solution for the Turntablet has planted me in the studio space of my dreams.
