I’m thrilled to be heading to London this Sunday for the Nov. 4 release of the UK edition of SHOOTING WAR, published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson. For those in the UK, I’ll be participating in the following events:
Tuesday Nov. 6, 7:00pm
Live Talk at Comica 07 Festival
“IRAQ: THE GRAPHIC WAR, TODAY AND IN 2011″
Institute of Contemporary Arts
To commemorate my happy return to London, I’ve created the first of two SHOOTING WAR Tour Posters, which features our sexy young blogger in a US-occupied London. Each poster is exclusive to the tour and does not appear in the book; all prints are signed/numbered and limited to 250 prints:

And my dear Londoners, the best place to hook up will be the Comica talk. I’m looking forward to meeting loads of you, so go on and give us a shout in the comments…
We’ve got a glowing full-page review in the “Pet of the Year Round-Up” Issue that hits the stands mid-November; just wink at your newsstand clerk and tell him you read it for their comic reviews.
This weekend I did 24 Hour Comics Day at Jim Hanley’s Universe alonside seven other participants, with six of us (yes I did!) completing the 24-page challenge. Everyone had a swell time staying up, eating greasy food and getting to know each other as we pushed ourselves to the outer rims of our cartooning limits AND getting to let our proverbial hair down with Scott and Ivy McCloud in the process, who are absolutely top notch people.
Personally, I took 24HCD as a challenge to work against my own style, creating my whole comic BEFORE YOU WERE HERE in a very oversimple cartoony line with a fountain pen and a sharpie on typing paper. I spent the first 2 hours working on the script and then completed all 24 pages of inks by the 10-hour mark, giving myself the remaining 14 hours to scan and color my pages in Photoshop. I’ll be posting it here in its entirety tomorrow; see you then!
From noon this Saturday to noon Sunday, I’m camping out at Jim Hanley’s Universe in Manhattan to participate in 24 Hour Comics Day… where cartoonists across the nation (planet?) make an entire comic book in a single day. Many local cartoonists will join in the (literal) creative marathon here in New York… so come by and throw us Powerades and kisses. Anyone is welcome to participate.
Uchhhh… it’s that damn STAY TUNED thing again. I’m sorry children, but I’m juggling pages from my next book (the nonfiction 2008 campaign trail memoir), my next-next book (shhhh) and finishing up this cool music-art project all at once… and that sadly means I’ve got to park the Kellymobile in the garage for a few weeks.
I promise to see you again several Tuesdays hence with a bouquet of flowers tucked under one arm and a thick hunk of Max’s origin story under the other… and I’ll make it up to you so good.
You’re still welcome to come over to KELLY IS LOVE anytime and play…
A very helpful KELLY IS LOVE member (thanks Giles!) pointed out that the Act Two archive of “KELLY” stopped abruptly… leaving Max and Theresa in donkey-punchus interruptus. I’ve reorganized the entire Archive into buttons, restoring the pacing of the original micro-installments for added thrills:
I’ve also made added the ShareThis app across the entire site, allowing you to fave any page or post till your heart explodes without even leaving the page.
