I’ve been invited to speak on a panel at this year’s Doc/Fest, the Sheffield Documentary Festival in the UK. The panel is on November 9, while I’m in post-election crunch-mode preparing 08 to go to press and unavailable to appear onstage in England. But thanks to the magic of webcam, I’ll be appearing live onscreen to participate in the panel "Scenes of a Graphic Nature" with Rutu Modan, Woodrow Phoenix, John Hinkleton and Paul Gravett. Is the pen mightier than the camcorder? Comic-book artists are documenting the difficult reality around them in new ways. Dan Goldman has been drawing the US elections. Rutu Modan’s work has the Middle East as backdrop and is documentary-inspired.
