Live Onscreen @Sheffield DocFest

I’ve been invited to speak on a panel at this year’s Doc/Fest, the Sheffield Documentary Festival in the UK. The panel is on November 9, while I’m in post-election crunch-mode preparing 08 to go to press and unavailable to appear onstage in England. But thanks to the magic of webcam, I’ll be appearing live onscreen to participate in the panel "Scenes of a Graphic Nature" with Rutu Modan, Woodrow Phoenix, John Hinkleton and Paul Gravett. The panel information is as follows:

Is the pen mightier than the camcorder? Comic-book artists are documenting the difficult reality around them in new ways. Dan Goldman has been drawing the US elections. Rutu Modan’s work has the Middle East as backdrop and is documentary-inspired. Woodrow Phoenix’s Rumblestrip analyses the role of the car in contemporary society and Ted Rall’s acerbic takes on the follies of US government are a must-read. Join established stars and the emerging talent of this medium, on stage, interjecting from the audience and flying in from cyberspace as they get to grips with the freedoms it offers the documentary form.
