A nonfiction “journalism graphic novel” collaboration with journalist Michael Crowley, 08 followed the 2008 presidential campaign from the primaries to election night, with pages being written and drawn in real-time so that the final 162-page book was on bookstore shelves by the time President Obama took office. For my part, it was designed as a hybrid of comics and information design, using a blend of comics’ pictoral language and magazine-style graphics to convey a lot of information between its covers in a new way.
